Attention Scholarship Applicants:

Due to the ongoing delays with the FAFSA, The Foundation has not yet announced dates for our 2024 scholarship application. Please bookmark this website, and stay tuned for updates. As soon as the dates are determined, we'll post them on the website. In the meantime, we recommend you create an account in our scholarship portal and start preparing your documents for our scholarship application. Please note that you'll need to submit several documents with the application, such as the completed returned FAFSA, the university's award letter, university acceptance letter, high school transcript, letter of recommendation (LOR), among other documents. If you have a teacher writing your LOR, please make sure you can contact them during the summer as they will have to submit the LOR online. We congratulate you on your upcoming high school graduation and wish you luck as you make preparations for university.

Thank you,
The Montgomery County Foundation, Inc.

      FAQs:

I am done my application. What happens now?

      • Once you completed the application, you have to follow up with your third parties' submissions to ensure they submit the form(s) requested from them before the deadline. Any application missing third party submissions is incomplete. Incomplete applications are disqualified. It is the student's responsibility to ensure this is submitted before the deadline.
      • Keep an eye on your emails. If you submitted a wrong document, you will be asked to re-submit. You must resubmit before the deadline, or your application is incomplete. Incomplete applications are disqualified. It is the student's responsibility to ensure this is submitted before the deadline.

      What is a "Third Party"?

      • A third party is the person you are asking to submit the Letter of Recommendation (LOR) or a Transcript Upload on your behalf. This is a required portion of the application. This is used to request a Letter of Recommendation (LOR) and/or request a Transcript Upload. Once you send your initial request to a third-party responder, you also have to follow up with them until they submit Letter of Recommendation (LOR) or upload the Transcript, whichever you requested from them. Both forms must be submitted online before the deadline, or your application is incomplete. Incomplete applications are disqualified. It is the student's responsibility to ensure this is submitted. You can check on the dashboard to see if the third party responded.

      Are all scholarships online?

      • Everything must be submitted online. If you receive an email asking you to resubmit a document, you must do it online. Do not submit or resubmit documents by email.

What if I don't have a digital copy of my document?

      • If you don't have access to a scanner, you can upload your documents using your mobile phone, try the library, school's computer lab, or any commercial printing/photocopying that offers this service.

      Can I use a screenshot?

    • Partial screenshots, and/or poor-quality documents, will not be accepted. You will be asked to resubmit.

    What documents are required?

    • All scholarships applications require: University Acceptance Letter, Financial Award Letter from University, Estimated Cost of Attendance from University, Full FAFSA, Letter of Recommendation (LOR) and a Transcript Upload. If additional information is needed, you will be notified via email.

When should I start the application?

    • Early. The application requires third party responses. Please allow time for the third parties to reply. If you start too late, they may not have time to submit a response and your application may be incomplete.

    When are scholarships awarded?

    • Scholarships are awarded in the summer. You will be notified by e-mail if you are receiving a scholarship. Remember to check spam.
    • Accepting a scholarship is a multi-step process. Deadlines will be indicated on email notifications.

I got an email stating my application is incomplete. What does an incomplete application mean?

    • The email will state what action is required. You may have to resubmit a document or follow up with your third-party responder to ensure they submit a response before the deadline. Incomplete applications are disqualified. It is the student's responsibility to ensure this is submitted before the deadline.
